4/5 Stars

After a reading stretch that was full of emotional and oftentimes heartbreaking storylines, I reached out to my dear cousin seeking a recommendation for a “humorous, easy, laugh-out-loud” read. She recommended The Rosie Project, and it did not disappoint.

Don Tillman is a quirky, socially-awkward professor of genetics who loves routine and predictability. He’s highly successful and brilliant in his field but less successful in his lackluster (read non-existent) lovelife. And he is okay with bachelorhood until a friend tells him he would make a wonderful husband. At this, Don devises “The Wife Project” which is a series of elaborate and detailed questions to find the perfect mate based on Don’s perception that, statistically, there must be someone for everyone. It is an evidence-based approach to finding the perfect partner, but Don soon finds out through a misunderstood encounter with a PhD psychology student named Rosie, a series of awkward and hilarious social situations, and The Father Project which is designed to help Rosie determine who her biological father is, that sometimes love does not make sense. Sometimes love is found in the most unlikely of places between two very mismatched but perfect-for-each-other partners.

This book is an easy and heart-warming read. It is funny and you will laugh till you cry. Such a fun and joyful read.
