4/5 Stars

One of my greatest blessings in life is to be a mom, and I love reading to my children. In fact, I packed books in my hospital bag when they were born and have read to them everyday since. So I have read a lot of children’s books. I like to seek out books with a positive message. The Origin (The A1 Mission Agency) by Timothy Beavin has a positive message. And even more, it’s a Christian-based story that does not shy away from the Truth. I read this book with my children (1st and 5th grade) to get a feel for how the target audience feels about it. They loved it! My youngest gave it 5/5 stars and my oldest 4/5.

Brothers, Toby and Scott, alongside their delinquent-turned-Christian cousin, Scooter, are the members of the A1 Mission Agency. Scooter comes to stay with his cousins for the summer who are apprehensive at first. But they quickly learn and are pleasantly surprised at Scooters complete 180. Through a series of adventurous events, A1 gang goes head-to-head with the Phoenix Gang, but will they succeed in their mission? You will have to read the book to find out. There will be no spoilers here. However, I will say that this book was enjoyable. As I read it to my children, we had many laughs and opportunities for good, faith-filled conversation. This was a fun detective story that kept my childrens’ attention, and I enjoyed it myself. The book is full of really good, solid themes such as forgiveness, friendship, and, most importantly, trusting Jesus. And the banter between the characters was quite animated at times and at others downright hilarious. The book ends with a twist at the end that leaves the reader wanting more. My family is looking forward to the next book in this series. We cannot wait!

I received an advance review copy for free from the author, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you so very much for the opportunity!
