Maybe in Another Life is a clever and interesting concept – in a world of infinite decisions, what happens if you make one decision differently? Taylor Jenkins Reed explores this theme through the life of 29-year-old Hannah Martin who, still trying to figure out what she wants to do with her life, lives a very nomadic one. It is fun following Hannah’s two different lives through alternating chapters. Despite the bouncing back and forth, the two story lines are not difficult to follow. It is really interesting to think how one small decision can completely change the course of one’s life.

This book is an easy and quick read and, as I said, an interesting concept. And while I would recommend it solely on these things, I caution the reader as well. It is not nearly the eloquent and captivating storytelling that Reed is known for in her novels like Daisy Jones & The Six (my favorite by her by far!) or Carrie Soto is Back, however, its cleverness and the ease with which it is read may appeal to many readers. Maybe in Another Life is perhaps a great addition to your beach bag and a wonderful book to bring on vacation.
