Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey was "alright, alright, alright." Now, I must recommend the audio version of this book as that is how I read it, and I have absolutely no regrets about it. Listening to McConaughey talk about the "greenlights" in his life in that soothing Matthew McConaughey voice we have all come to know and love was absolutely delightful.

My husband and I listened to this together on a long road trip to the Carolinas. Kids in tow with their DVD players and headphones, we took in McConaughey's soothing southern drawl on our way to the south. I would not recommend this for children as there were some language and age-inappropriate stories for kids. We were okay with it though because they were enthralled with their movie watching with headphones and could not hear the words in our book.

Now, onto the interesting stuff. McConaughey has led an incredibly fascinating life full of unique experiences some of which are so unbelievable that you must believe them because no one, not even someone as creative and talented as McConaughey, could make them up. His stories, his "greenlights", will shock you. They will make you smile and laugh. As a matter of fact, I was in tears laughing at times as I listened to this book. And since I consider laughing one of life's greatest blessings, I was an especially big fan of these moments. The book takes you from McConaughey's earliest days in Uvalde, Texas to his overnight Hollywood fame and beyond. You get to know him as a person and not just an actor. You get to hear his tremendous writing style though the sounds of his voice. And he is a phenomenal writer. I was highly impressed with his writing abilities. Finally, you get to know Matthew McConaughey as an intellect and deep thinker. I am completely blown away by how intelligent and deeply thinking of a person he is. If everyone in Hollywood thought as deeply as him, I imagine it would be quite a different place.

So check this book out. It will fascinate you!
